How Ozzy handles information

Last updated: April 9, 2026.

Overview

Ozzy is an iPhone app for journaling expenses and reviewing spending patterns. This policy explains what information may be processed when you use the app and how that information is used.

Information stored on your device

Expense entries, parsed spending details, budget information, and onboarding details are stored locally on your device using Apple platform storage.

Ozzy does not require you to create an account to use the app.

Information sent to third-party services

Ozzy uses third-party services to provide some functionality:

  • Ozzy backend + Perplexity are used to process expense text and recent expense context so the app can estimate amounts, merchants, categories, and short expense summaries. The Perplexity API key is kept on the server rather than in the iPhone app.
  • PostHog is used for product analytics, such as app lifecycle events and in-app usage events, to help improve the app.
  • Superwall is used to support paywall and subscription presentation.
  • Apple processes purchases, billing, and subscription management when you subscribe through the App Store.

How information is used

  • To parse and organize your expense entries.
  • To show spending totals, category breakdowns, and related product features.
  • To measure app performance and understand feature usage.
  • To manage subscriptions and restore purchases.

Data retention

Data stored locally in the app remains on your device unless you remove it or delete the app. Data processed by third-party services is subject to those providers' own retention and privacy practices.

Your choices

  • You can stop using the app at any time.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions from your Apple ID subscription settings.
  • You can contact the developer with privacy questions or requests.
